Description

During my 7th standard in school, I embarked on my first complete learning journey by creating a website inspired by actress Pooja Hegde. This project became a pivotal turning point in my life. As time passed, I delved into the world of digital marketing, using this very website as my experimental canvas.

This project served as a platform for exploring diverse skills, including logo design, SEO, WordPress, web development, and even Photoshop for image editing. Notably, the website achieved impressive Google rankings, securing a place on the first page.

During my second year in college, I undertook a valuable course on Python's Django framework at Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology. After completing the course, I participated in a group project where I designed and built a Blog CRM system in just a day. Impressed by my work, the Head of the Computer Science and Engineering department nominated me to revamp our college website.

I took on the challenge and transformed the outdated PHP-based college website into a modern and efficient platform. Utilizing JavaScript, jQuery, PostgreSQL, HTML5, CRON, and CSS, I redesigned the website to provide comprehensive information about our college.

I also implemented two sub-projects. One automated sending birthday wishes to alumni, students, and teachers via email. The other allowed students to conveniently view their semester results, ensuring smooth performance even with multiple users simultaneously.

Through this project, I showcased my ability to create user-friendly and efficient web solutions using Python's Django framework.

Revitalized a legacy custom search engine project based on Sphider (sphider.eu), designed by Ando Saabas. Implemented a series of enhancements that propelled it into modernity and improved functionality.

Integral to the engine's capabilities is a self-developed crawler, meticulously adhering to robot.txt and sitemap guidelines. By navigating internal backlinks, the crawler ensures an all-encompassing index coverage.

Notably, the search engine excels in image search, relying on the alt attribute for pertinent text-based outcomes. It further boasts a dynamic news search feature, periodically scraping data from official RSS News Feeds, granting users access to the latest news.

The overhaul included upgrading outdated features to align with contemporary PHP versions and web standards. The project was transformed with HTML5 and CSS into an aesthetically pleasing and responsive search interface.

A proprietary web crawler was introduced to facilitate the scraping of text and images from websites. This modernized iteration also seamlessly incorporates RSS feed support, empowering regular news updates through scheduled cron jobs.

This transformation culminated in an adept search engine aligned with contemporary web requirements, offering sophisticated spidering and indexing capabilities. Comprehensive search functionalities encompassed AND, OR, and phrase searches, alongside advanced features such as auto-suggestions and word stemming.

Administering the system entails rich insights into site and search statistics, enhancing the overall user experience. The project stands as a testament to comprehensive web development expertise and an ability to revitalize and tailor legacy projects for modern applications.

• Song Scraping: Successfully integrated song scraping capabilities from Hungama Music, significantly enriching the platform's content library.
• Performance Enhancement: Leveraged GitHub and Cloudflare as a free Content Delivery Network (CDN), dramatically reducing response time to an impressive 4 ms, compared to the typical 20 ms on comparable platforms.
• Soundify Sub Project:
  • Developed Soundify, a lightweight music streaming app utilizing AngularJS and hosted on the Cloudflare server.
  • Objective: Crafted a streamlined, ad-free music streaming experience that eliminates the necessity for user logins, adhering to Progressive Web App (PWA) principles.
  • Features: Empowered users with song playback, ensured a minimalistic design philosophy, and provided a seamless ad-free listening environment while maintaining accessibility and optimized performance.
